USA Today: One quarter of Kamala Harris announcement coverage included racist or sexist stereotyping

USA Today covered the release of TIME’S UP Now’s new report comparing coverage of Sen. Harris in the two weeks following her announcement as VP to coverage of Gov. Pence and Sen. Kaine in 2016. The report found that one quarter of media coverage this year evoked racist or sexist stereotypes or tropes. This includes the ‘Angry Black Woman’ trope, commentary that she is “too ambitious” or “phony” to be president, among other offensive language.
