TIME’S UP Now: “Every Vote Must Be Counted”

In Her Honor, TIME'S UP 2020

Last night, President Donald Trump declared himself the winner of the 2020 election. Yet, millions of legitimate votes from critical states, such as Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, remain uncounted.

Tina Tchen, president and CEO of TIME’S UP Now, provided the following statement:

“No one but the American people can determine the winner of this election. Every vote cast — either in person or by mail — must be counted. Period.

“President Trump’s baseless attempt to silence these votes is un-American, un-democratic, and distracting. We knew having a clear winner on election night was highly unlikely, which is why it’s so important election officials and the American people stay the course. We demand states be allowed to continue to do what they always have done: tallying up their results until every single vote is in. Our democracy — and the rights of all people across this country — is simply too important to give up now.”
