TIME’S UP: “No Vote on a Nominee Before Inauguration Day 2021— Period”
Changing Laws & Policy, Equity, Federal Policy, Power, Safety, State Policy
TIME’S UP Now joins millions of Americans mourning the loss of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg and tonight called on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans to abide by their 2016 standard to ensure “the American people…have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court justice.”
Tina Tchen, president and CEO of TIME’S UP Now, provided the following statement:
“We have lost a tremendous legal, cultural and feminist icon this evening. Ruth Bader Ginsberg inspired generations of women and charted an indelible path of fairness and equality across this great country.
“We will continue to fight for gender, racial, and social justice in her memory — starting with a commitment to fight to hold her seat vacant until after the next Administration and Senate are sworn in. Early voting has already started. This election is underway, and the people deserve a voice in the selection of the next Supreme Court Justice.
“No vote on a nominee before Inauguration Day 2021—period. Our rights depend on it.”
