During the March 15 Democratic Presidential Debate, Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders were asked how their cabinets’ will ensure the best advice on issues that affect women’s physical and financial health.

Tina Tchen, president and CEO of TIME’S UP Now, praised both candidates for their commitment to increasing the representation of women in positions of leadership.

“Since there won’t be a woman elected President of the United States this year, we are excited by the commitment both Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders have made tonight to do better to ensure the highest levels of our government better represent the public – whether by Sanders pledging to have gender parity in cabinet appointments, or by Biden pledging to appoint a black woman to serve on the Supreme Court and name a woman to run as Vice President.”

“Women make up a majority of the U.S. population, a majority of the U.S. workforce, and a majority of voters. It’s past time our government looks like us, and therefore, truly represents us.”
